What do you enjoy about the work you do?

I enjoy working with the dynamic interplay between the changing personal lives of our clients and their families, and the ever-shifting investment, tax and legal environment that affects their financial lives. I appreciate our talented group, and the fact that we can solve problems and provide perspectives that often go well beyond the scope of financial matters and help across generations. I value the mutual education and deeper understandings that emerge from our long-term relationships with clients and with each other.

What are some causes you care about?

I am committed to cultural enrichment, and to education in all its forms. I have been closely involved with numerous not-for-profit organizations such as schools, musical education programs, English literacy, and civic and international exchanges. I currently chair the board of trustees of the World Affairs Council in Seattle, promoting global, cross-cultural understanding and engagement. In recent years, I have been both board chair and treasurer of The Seattle Athenaeum ("Folio"), a center for literary, cultural and civic discussion, in Seattle's Pike Place Market, and both board chair and treasurer of the Northwest School of the Arts, Humanities and Environment, a private middle and high school serving local and international students.

Do you have any skills, talents or interests that most people don’t know about?

I teach English and US citizenship test preparation to immigrants in Seattle, through St. James Immigrant Assistance. It gives me great satisfaction to welcome aspiring citizens to this country, and to help them feel accepted and competent in an unfamiliar new world.
